Jencsok <br />Sue Uppendahl <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />April 21, 1993 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Agenda Item 16a, May 6-7, 1993, Board Meeting-- <br />Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program <br />Interim Flow Protection Options <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />At its March 4-5, 1993 meeting the Board directed the staff to prepare a <br />"concept paper" identifying various alternatives for interim protection af instream flows <br />for the Endangered Fish Recovery Program. The purpose of the concept paper is to <br />solicit input from various affected and knowledgeable parties, and assist the Board in <br />selecting one or more of the alternatives for further analysis. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />A draft concept paper and a proposed mailing list is attached for your review <br />and comment. The concept paper describes a broad range of alternatives for <br />addressing the acquisition and appropriation of instream flows for endangered fishes. <br />t. Although a few active participants in the Recovery Program have already contributed <br />to the concept paper, it has not been formally reviewed by the pertinent Recovery <br />Program committees at this time. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />The staff recommends that the Board review, discuss and recommend <br />appropriate changes and approve the concept paper for distribution to interested <br />parties, and that public comment be taken on this issue at the July 1993 Board <br />meeting. <br /> <br />ED/bj <br /> <br />bjlOOl.16a <br />
