Melis, Physical Science Program Managf'-il. <br /> <br />Recent USGS publication by Webb et al. - Observations o/Environmental <br />Change in Grand Canyon, Arizona <br /> <br />The attached report, Observations 0/ Environmental Change in Grand Canyon, Arizona <br />by Webb, Melis and Valdez, has recently been accepted by the GCMRC as a final <br />deliverable, and published by the United States Geological Survey. <br /> <br />Written in cooperation with its physical- and biological-science cooperators, this report is <br />an attempt to provide managers and decision makers with a larger context for evaluating <br />the Colorado River ecosystem's resource conditions prior-to and following closure of <br />Glen Canyon Dam. It is hoped that infonnation on observations of native fishes and sand <br />resources in Grand Canyon in the pre-dam era will be of particular interest and use. <br /> <br />Infonnation contained in this article reflects the authors' monitoring and research efforts <br />funded by the fonner GCES program through 1996, as well as GCMRC-sponsored <br />monitoring and research carried out Ihrough later agreemenls with the USGS - Water <br />Resource Discipline during Fiscal Years 1998 through 2002. <br /> <br />Please review this report and share it with your staff and other interested parties.
