The Amity Mutual Irrigat;on Company

1462

made to the Arkansas Valley Water Court, Tn!s cnange is opposed by
several canals which divert their water below the High Line Headgate and
faces a stiff contest for approval and if approved, for the quantity of water
to be diverted.

It this Las Animas Town water right cannot be moved upstream, the
Colorado Fish and Game Department may still try to purchase this early
priority and transfer it to John Martin to suwly the Permanent Pool.

Nothing has happened to change the Court consent to run water from
Muddy Creek Reservoir into John Martin Reservoir for recreation. No
water has been available, and no operating procedures have been worked out.

Construction has proceeded steadily on the various phases of the Frying
Pan Arkansas Project in spite of certain curtailment of funds this past
year because of the Federal economy.

The Pueblo Reservoir should be in operation before too long as it Is
understood that liberal allotments for the Frying Pan are included in the
President"s budget for Utis year. This reservoir is intended principally
to store trans-mountain water, and for upstream ditches to store their
winter water which can be called later to be applied at a more advantagous
time. The reservoir has a 30,000 a. f. recreation pool and flood control
capacity if needed, Flood water that would normally reach John Martin
Reservoir would not be stored at Pueblo unless John Martin was filled.
Regular flows of the Arkansas in excess of direct flow demand would
still be stored in private reservoirs down stream when possible

The dam on the Purgatoire should be in operation about the same time.
This reservoir is a short distance above Trinidad and has an irrigation
storage capacity of 20,000 a, f. and some capacity for flood storage if
John Martin is filled, also a permanent pool 4, 500 a. f. for recreation,
fish and wild life,

The report of our Secretary shows in detail cash receipts and dis-
bursements, also a budget prepared by the Board d Directors, which
includes salary raises for our employees.

The book. and accounta <I. \he Company have been <I.!icia\\y audited
and report will be avaUable at the annual meeting,

I want to again thank the directors, stockholders and employees
for their hearty co-operation throughout this yesr,

Respectfully submitted,

Harry C. Nevius, President

Page 5
