GIANELLI, Di,.ctor

JUL 11 1972

Mr. Robert H. Griffin, Chairman
Pacific Southwest Inter-Agency Committee
555 Battery Street, Room 415
San Francisco, CA 94111

Dear Mr. Griffin:

I am pleased to submit the comments of the State of
California on the final field draft of liThe Pacific Southwest
Analytical Summary Report on Water and Land Resourcesll dated
November 1971 which was based on the Comprehensive Framework
Studies for the four regions of the Southwest.

We would like to compliment the Analytical Summary
Report Task Force of the Pacific Southwest Inter-Agency Committee
for the concise and attractive report they have prepared. It
will be a quite useful overview.

California has submitted detailed comments on the
Main Report and appendixes for the Comprehensive Framework Study
of the California Region. Those comments also apply to the
material presented in the Analytical Summary Report to the ex-
tent it summarizes the portions of the California Region reports,
which we covered. While we have not made a detailed comparison
of the material in this final field draft with the information
in earlier drafts, we assume that our comments on those drafts
have been accounted for in compiling this report.

We note that IIpart VII, Analysisll, presents a California
Region comparison of population projections, needs for irrigated
land, requirements for irrigation and municipal and industrial
water, and development costs for the three projections used in the
study of that region. However, the major summary in Part V of the
report presents only information for the Base Plan projections.

EXHIBIT J

.
