.

.

.\

I'

To further inform property owners, representatives from the Board, the City of Needles, and
Reclamation participated in information meetings held in the cities of Blythe, Needles, and
Winterhaven. A total of 170 people were in attendance at the three meetings. At the September 25th
meeting in Blythe, 60 people were in attendance; 100 people attended the September 26th meeting in
Needles; and 10 people were in attendance at the Winterhaven meeting, on Thursday, September 27,
2001.

At each meeting, a brief overview of the Law of the River was presented and the circumstances
that caused the creation of the Lower Colorado Water Supply Project. I can generally say that the
audiences were courteous but had many questions. Many people wanted to know why they had to start
paying for water from their own well. However, a vast majority recognized that Colorado River water
is a I imited resource and this might be the only opportunity for them to obtain a legal entitlement to
Colorado River water and attach it to their property.

As of Friday , October 5'", 66 applications have been received in various stages of completeness.
Generally, the applicants are requesting water in the range of 1-5 acre-feet.

~:g-_J>'J~__--

c- O...,,,ld R.
