<br />Delivery of softened Colorado River water to constituent Hreas
<br />of the District was on the whole only slightly more than in the
<br />previous year. Annheim. Santa Ana, and Santa Monica again w:;ed
<br />practically all (85 per cent or more) Colorado River water, Pas-
<br />adel'" two thirds, Long Beach almost half. Torrance, Cow,tal MlIni-
<br />cipal Water Di"trict, and Fullerton about 40 per cent each, and
<br />Beverly Hills HI pe" cent. Burbank, Compton, Glendale, and Los
<br />Angeles took water ani)' to ,atisfy peak demands. West Basin
<br />Municipal Water District started taking water for the lirst. t.ime
<br />on .J une 23, 194!), from a new connect.ion to the Palos Verdes feeder
<br />to sllpply t.he Palos Verdes Wate,' Company and the Cit)' of Palos
<br />Verdes Estates, San Marino, with no ph;'sical connection to the
<br />District system, was the only member agency not using Colorado
<br />Rive,' water, The maximllm monthl;' delive,'y of softened water
<br />to constituent areas was 10,043.1 acre-feet in August 1!)48, The
<br />minimum monthly delivery of softened water waS in March 1949
<br />when 2.855.6 acre-feet were delivered. The average daily delivery
<br />of softened water for the fiscal year was 200,8 acre-feet, equivale,nt
<br />to 101.:,1 cubic feet pel' secoud, or 65,470.000 gaHons per day,
<br />Softened Colorado River water continued to be supplied to the
<br />Mount San Antonio Junior College near Spadra under an agreement
<br />with the State of California until August 11, 1~)48 and thereafter
<br />under a contract made directly with the Junior CoHege District.
<br />During the fiscal year the delivery totaled 73.1 acre-feet.
<br />Delivery of natural Colorado River water to the San Diego COllnty
<br />Water Authority was started December 1, 1947, and has since beell
<br />practically continuous at appro~imately full capacity of the pipe
<br />line, The total quantity of water sold to the Authority during the
<br />fiscal year was 71,642,6 acre-feet, an awrage flow of !)9 cubic feet
<br />pel' second and 49 per cent of the total quantity of water sold by
<br />the District for the period,
<br />Natural Colorado River water was supplied from Lake Mathew"
<br />to the U. S, Ann,\' for use at Camp Haan during the entire flscal
<br />year. Delivery was accomplished through a connection from the
<br />valve structllre in the headworks to a nearby pumping plant, from
<br />which the water was pumped through a 12-mile pipe line to a
<br />softening and filtration plant at Camp Haan, Delivery to the camp
<br />IVas begun in September 1942 and has been continuous since that
<br />time, During the year 55.:~ acre-feet of water were released to the
<br />Camp Haan pumping plant.
