REOPERATION STUDIES OF EXISTING FACILITIES

Design and actual capacity; size of inactive pools and potential reuse; amount of
uncontracted yield; capability if any for enlargement; assessment of whether conservation
measures, other efficiency measures, or operational changes could make additional water
available, and if so, how much, when, and where; how water is allocated and how actually
used; what quantities of water are allocated/contracted for but not actually used; what
quantities of water are contracted for irrigation use but actually used/applied for
residential purposes, hobby farms, subdivided lands; inventory and diagram all return
flows.

Reclamation's ResDonses

A. Sediment inflow to the Reservoir was estimated to be about 3,300 acre-
feet per year, It was estimated that the combined inactive and dead
capacity would be reduced by about 262.000 acre-feet and the activity
capacity would be reduced by about 68,000 acre-feet at the end of the 100-
year Project life,

B. Size of inactive pool and potential for reuse:

.

Inactive Capacity =

659,900 acre-feet

.

The inactive capacity of the reservoir is defined by the intake elevation of
the diversion structure for the Navajo Indian Irrigation Project (NIIP),

** 1/10/97 - PREL.IMINARY - SUB.JECTTo REVISION - FOR DISCUSSION PURPOSES ONLY **
