<br />. <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />l'\.'l <br />0') <br />i\,) <br />en <br /> <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the conferees of <br />California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah <br />and Wyoming that: <br /> <br />"I) a salinity policy be adopted for the Colorado <br />River system that would have as its objective the <br />maintenance of salinity concentrations at or below <br />levels presently found in the lower main stem; <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />"2) in implementing the salinity policy objective <br />for the Colorado River system the salinity problem be <br />treated as a basinwide problem that needs to be solved <br />to maintain Lower Basin water salinity at or below <br />present levels while the Upper Basin continues to <br />develop its compact-apportioned water, recognizing <br />that salinity levels may rise until control measures <br />Clre made effective;" <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />"7) the adoption of numerical criteria be deferred <br />until the potential effectiveness of Colorado River <br />salinity control measures is better known;" <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Conferees, official representatives of the seven Basin <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />States and the Environmental Protection Agency, at the reconvened <br />seventh session on April 26-27, 1972, unanimously adopted conclusions <br />and recommendations pertaining to the salinity problems of the <br /> <br />Colorado River. These were in lieu of numeric criteria which were <br /> <br />still thought to be premature. The conclusions and recommendations <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />which were approved by Mr. William D. Ruchelshaus, Administrator <br />of the Environmental Protection Agency in June 1972, also are shown <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />in Appendix C. The most significant part of the conclusions and <br /> <br />recommendations of the Reconvened Seventh Session is as follows: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-7- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />'" <br />
