This estimate is based
on average 1939-1944 prices Which are assumed to represent average prices
over an extended period in the future. With proper operation, maintenance,
and replacements, the project works would have a useful life of more than
100 years.

Construction Schedule

Project operation could start after construction of the Green River
Canal, its appurtenant structures, and the necessary laterals. Construc-
tion of these features would require about 2 years. The drainage system
would not be undertaken until after the project was in operation and a
study could be made of actual return flow conditions.

Water Supply

The ideal annual diversion requirement for project landr!' s estimted
at 3.14 acre-feet an acre or at a total of 24,300 acre-feet.- The
requirement was estimated from consideration of consumptive use, effective
precipitation, and farm and conve:rance losses as shown in the tabulation
below.

Average annual amount
(acre-feet per acre)

Consumptive use
Winter consumptive, use
Growing season consumptive use

1.63
-,16
1.47

-,23
1.24

Effective precipitation
Irrigation requirement

Surface waste and deep percolation losses
Conveyance losses in canals and laterals
Diversion requirement

f .S3
1-1.07
3.14

Project operation studies were made over the period 1931 to 1945,
inclusive, a representative period since it includes some years of high
run-off and 3 years, 1931, 1934, and 1940, of extremely low run-off.
During the period of study, run-off at the diversion site averaged
S47,700 acre-feet annually.
