One plan emphasizes National Economic Development and the other
plan, Environmental Quality.

The National Economic Development plan includes two reservoirs, Juniper
and Pilot Knob. Regulation of water at these sites would serve power
generation, municipal and industrial water, recreation, fish and wildlife
and irrigation.

The Environmental Quality plan would have three reservoirs, Juniper, Pilot
Knob, and Fortification Creek. Water regulation at these sites would serve
municipal and industrial water, recreation, fish and wildlife, irrigation,
and flood control.

Both plans were considered as potential participating projects of the
Colorado River Storage Project. Data on the two plans are tabulated below:

ADMINISTRATION

The Juniper and Great Northern Water Conservancy Districts would admini-
ster project features and contract with the Federal Government and the
water users for the repayment of reimbursable project costs. These two
districts would probably be coordinated by a combined board of directors.
Studies have not progressed far enough to determine the administering
agency for the potential recreational facilities.

NED plan

EQ plan

WATER SUPPLY

Increase in supplies (average annual acre-feet)
Municipal and industrial
Irrigation
Total
Effects on Colorado River at Hoover
Stream depletion (average annual
Increase in salinity (mg/l)

110,000 110,000
2,600 2,600
112,600 112,600
Dam
acre-feet) 126,300 126,300
