The <br />first section of this canal to the, Murgab <br />River will make possible the irrigation <br />of 416,000 acres. <br /> <br />In Northern Caucasus <br /> <br />Eastern Area <br /> <br />Project has started to divert water from <br />Terek and other rivers to irrigate <br />5,390,000 acres. <br /> <br />Central Area <br />(Vicinity of Stravropol') <br /> <br />Project has started to divert water from <br />Kuban area to irrigate 3,675,000 acres. <br /> <br />Western Area <br />(Vicinity of Krasnodar) <br /> <br />Project has started to irrigate 245,000 <br />acres by diverting water from Kuban River. <br />Scheduled to be completed by 1960. <br />
