MURRAY STEIN <br /> <br />MR. STEIN: The conference is open. <br /> <br />This session of the conference in the matter of <br /> <br />pollution of the navigable waters of the South Platte River <br /> <br />Basin within the State of Colorado is being held under the <br /> <br />provisions of Section 10 of the Federal Water Pollution <br /> <br />Control Act, as amended. The Secretary of the Interior is <br /> <br />authorized to call a conference of this type when requested <br /> <br />to do so by the Governor of a State. Governor Love requested <br /> <br />a conference on July 18, 1963, and conference sessions have <br /> <br />been held on October 29, 1963, and April 27-28, 1966. <br /> <br />The purpose of the conference is to bring to- <br /> <br />gether representatives of the State water pollution control <br /> <br />agency, representatives of the Federal Water Pollution <br /> <br />Control Administration, and other interested parties, to <br /> <br />review the existing situation, the progress which has been <br /> <br /> <br />made, to lay a basis for future action by all parties con- <br />
