Agreement with Mexico <br /> <br />The withdrawal of ground water from the United States due to <br />pumping in the Mexican well field was brought to the attention of the <br />Mexican authorities during negotiations regarding resolution of the <br />United States-Mexico Colorado River salinity problem. The negotiations <br />with Mexico have resulted in an agreement whereby the United States and <br />Mexico will each limit the pumping of ground waters to 160,000 acre-feet <br />per year in each country within 5 miles of the Arizona-Sonora <br />International Boundary near San Luis.!! The agreement ~ further <br />provi des that "The Uni ted States wi 11 continue to deli ver to Mexi co on <br />the land boundary at San Luis and in the limitrophe section of the <br />Colorado River downstream from Morelos Dam approximately 140,000 acre- <br />feet (172,689,000 cubic meters) annually with a salinity substantially <br />the same as that of the waters customarily delivered there." <br /> <br />B.
