This projeot contemplo.tes the <br />diversion from the G'unnison River and its tributaries, end from tributar- <br />ies of the Roaring Fork River, a.f waters not needed for present or pros- <br />pective future irrigation uses in the local basins of said.streams. pre- <br />sent studies, subject to further investigations, disclose the opportuni- <br />ties of diverting all average of 800,000 aore feet annuo.lly from the Gunni- <br />son River and 200.000 aore feet e.ralually from the Roaring ForI: tribul;o.ries. <br />~llien the project investigo.tions are oompleted, the designs and operating <br />plans are expected to disclose that projeots of benefit to the local <br />GunnisQl Valley will be installed as part of the exportation project that <br />separately might prove infeasible or econamioally unjustified. ~uch addi- <br />tional description of the Gunnison-Arkansas projeot as may appoar in the <br />final draft of the Report should be obtained from the Denver regional of- <br />fioe. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />48. Seno.te Doct~ent 80, 75th Congress, 1st Session, printed June <br />15, 1937, desoribes the Colorado-Big Thompson exportation project a.nd the <br />manner in which it shall be operated to preserve the vested and future <br />rights in irrigation; to preserve the fishing and reoreational facilities <br />and scenio attractions a.f Grand Lake and Rocky Hountain l'ational Park; to <br />maintain the condi tions of river flow for the benefit of local domestio <br />uses and sanitary purposes; and to so conserve and make use of the waters <br />for irrigation, power, industrial development, and other purposes, as to <br />create the greatest benefits.
