Water Su.J2.ply,. <br /> <br />ProJeot Area Below Fire Mountain ..Q1anal <br /> <br />The upper table on. the following page shows the present and the <br />.Ill timate areas to be served by the Fire Mountain Canal after it has been <br />rebuilt, enl.arged and extended. Net areas are 94% of the gross aores as <br />allowance for farmsteads, roads,ditohes and other waste areas, and the net <br />figures will be used in this discussion. As shown 2,0.6; acres is entirely <br />dependent upon. Fire Mountain Canal exoept for very lIIOlall amounts of flood <br />water from Hubbard and. Terror Creeks that goes to 167 aores. <br /> <br />The area of 5,1+63 acres at present served by Fire Mountain Canal <br />is oompleted by 3,39$ aores on Rogers and Barrows Mesas. However; the <br />greater part of the water supply for this .3,398 acres oomes not from the <br />canal, but from Leroux Creek and the o.verlandstorage sys.tem. whish latter <br />also furnish water to 2,0.38 aores that have no Fire Mountain rights. <br /> <br />The total of all the areas mentioned above, which can be served <br />from the rebuilt and enlarged Fire Mountain Canal is 7.50.1 acres. The ex- <br />tension will serve 439 aores nrn;- irrigated. 1'he total of presently irrigat.,. <br />ed lands thus served will be 7.940. acres. after the canal is extended. '31ld above Fire Mountain Canal. These are the lands to <br />which it is proposed to transfer the water now used below Fire Mount",in <br />CanBJ.. that is diverted f'raro. Leroux Creek and the Overland. system. The total <br />shown is believed to include lands not now irrigated, but no closer figure <br />can be set up from the present information. JUlowing 6% for waste land the <br />irrigated area above Fire Mountain Canal is 4.91.080res. lIra):>1.e land. to the <br />amount of 5.0.16 net aore... is also available in the area. some of which may <br />possibly be irrigated after the Fire Mountain Canal has been enlarged and <br />Leroux Creek and Overland water is transferred upstream. <br /> <br />Total Project Area <br /> <br />From the total net area of 13,552 acres both above and belo'w Fire <br />Mountain Canal shown in the tables and disoussed above 1 t is knovm that <br />oertain areas will be exoluded. Prior rights (1 &:.2) from Leroux Creek for <br />8.5 seoond-feet, which at a duty basis 01' 60. aoreswould account for 510 <br />aores will ha.rdly be interested in additional water. Of' this area 420 aores <br />is above Fire Mountain Canal and 90 acres below.
