S. Geo-
logical Survey Maybell gaging station, exclusive of the
Little Snake River, the drainage basin of Vermilion Creek
in Colorado, a tributary to the Green River, and the small
watershed area in the vicinity of the junction of the
Yampa River with the Green which drains to the Green River.
The subbasin is located entirely within Moffat County.
Although much of the subbasin watershed is at
an altitude of between 6,500 and 7,500 feet with mountain
peaks of over 9,000 feet, the annual precipitation and
resultant watershed runoff is low. The streams of the
subbasin including that of Vermilion Creek are intermittent.

Watershed Runoff
Since the streams of the subbasin are ungaged
without any record of runoff, the water yield information
as used in this report consists of estimates largely based
on watershed area and precipitation. For the 18-year
report period the average annual subbasin yield was esti-
mated to be 61,700 acre feet. This amount, less the annual
stream depletion of 3,900 acre feet, gives 57,800 acre feet
as the probable historic runoff of the subbasin.

16

..ll
