This work will be
completed in FY 90. Beginning in FY 91, the Aspinall Unit work plan
outline will be developed. On the basis of the perceived negative effects
on the habitat: of the endangered fishes resulting from Aspinall Unit
operation, reviewer comments on the report describing results of
preliminary analyses, and input from the Interagency Consultation Team,
study (information) needs will be identified and made available in the
form of an Aspinall Unit work plan outline. This will be provided to
researchers who wish to develop detailed scopes of work for Recovery
Implementation Committee consideration durin9 the review process for FY 92
work, Each generalized study description provided in the work plan
outline will include hypotheses that could be tested if river conditions
were manipulated through modification of Aspinall Unit operation.

VI, Task Description (FY-1991)

Complete hydrologic, temperature and sediment analyses; ic=ntif:,: importar,t
effects of Aspinall Unit operation on river environment; prepare report
(30 Sept 1990). Submit report for review (I Oct 1990). Incorporate
reviewer comments into report (15 Nov 1990). FY I Work

The analysis of hydrologic, temperature and sediment changes in the
Gunnison and Colorado rivers that have resulted from operation of the
Aspinall Unit is ongoing. Concurrent with this effort, pertinent data are
being reviewed with regard to species needs and environmental conditions
in the Colorado River. These analyses will be completed by 30 Sep 1990,
when a preliminary report will be available and comments will be
sol icited,

A preliminary Aspinall Unit work plan outline will then be developed. A
meeting of the Interagency Consultation Team for the Aspinall Un;t will be
held in November or December 1990 to discuss the plan outline an~ to
develop a consensus on study needs. By 30 Jan 1991, the Aspinall Unit
work plan outline will be available to researchers who wish to submit
detailed scopes-of-work for consideration in the review process for FY 92
work.

c

3
