",. <br />-~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />The Upper Colorado is a region in which extractive activities <br /> <br />like agriculture and mining play an important role. Regarding the <br /> <br />percent of total regional earnings accounted for by mining and <br /> <br />agriculture, the Upper Colorado ranks 1st among the 20 Water <br /> <br />Resources Regions in mining (13.3 percent of regional earnings) <br /> <br />and 4th in agriculture (8. 7 percent of regional earnings). <br /> <br />I <br />tfb-~ <br /> <br />, <br />, <br /> <br />Total Personal Income and Population (Chart 1) <br /> <br />Between 1968 and 2020 total personal incc::ne in the Upper <br /> <br />Colorado is exp,~cted to increase about 7 times -- ,from about <br /> <br />$.8 billion in 1968 to nearly $6 billion in 2020. This rate of in- <br /> <br />crease is considerably slower than the eight-and-one-half-fold <br /> <br />,it', <br /> <br />~fl~ <br />tJ3~ <br /> <br />rise projected for total personal income nationally. <br /> <br />During the same time period total population in the Upper <br /> <br />Colorado is expected to rise by less than 50 percent -- from 336 <br /> <br />thousand to nearly 483 thousand.
