RUllUTlonds, Board <br /> <br />chairman, said. <br /> <br />The darn was completed in 1963 as part of the Colorado River <br /> <br />Storage Project Act. <br /> <br />It can store up to 25 million acre-feet of water <br /> <br />from "wet" year flows of the river. <br /> <br />The suit was filed by two conservation groups, Friends of the <br /> <br />Earth and Wasatch Mountain Club, Inc., and a private individual to <br /> <br />prevent the waters of Lake Powell from encroaching into any part of <br /> <br />the 160-acre Rainbow Bridge National Monument area. <br /> <br />The bridge, located near the center of the monument, is a <br /> <br />natural arch formed by millions of years of erosion of sandstone <br /> <br />formations. <br /> <br />The Colorado River Board passed a resolution supporting a <br /> <br />motion by the U.S. Department of Interior and the Bureau of Reclamation, <br /> <br />defendants in the litigation, to have the case dismissed.
