Holden
Summary Report
January 17, 1997

Enclosed please find a copy of the Summary Report for 1996. This report summarizes the results
of the Program through 1995. It follows the fonnat of the Integration Report that was prepared
in 1995, and updates the infonnation based on 1995 research activities. Therefore, much of the
infonnation in this report is the same as in last year's Integration Report.

As was noted for the Discussion Paper that you recently received, this report is a final report from
the Biology Committee. Please review the report and utilize the contents in making decisions in
the Program. Suggestions for changes in fonnat or content should be directed at the 1997 Work
Plan for this element, although we will be happy to discuss ways to make this document more
usable in the future.

Major changes in this report compared to the previous Integration Report include a more concise
summary of the physical habitat components (Section 5.1), a clearer statement as to where the
Program stands on each milestone, and a new set of recommendations for research and changes to
the Long Range Plan.

Additional copies of this report can be obtained from the Program Coordinator.
