This acreage
accounts for only a very small portion (less than 1%) of the total
acreage in the Grand Valley. The table below shows irrigated crop
acreage for Mesa County which includes the Grand Valley and High
Country. The acreage monitored for irrigation in 1993 is also
provided. Refer to Appendix B for information on Mesa County
agricultural acreage and other statistics.

-
crops Total Monitored Percent
Monitored l'.creaqe l'.cres Monitored
Corn (grain) 7,500 123 1. 64
Corn (silage) 9,800 25 0.26
Alfalfa n;300 173 0.54
Dry beans -, i,600 23 'It 1.44 i.
Soybeans . -1,000 8 0.80
Orchard (aooles/oeachesl 7.500 25 0.33

The average monitored sit~for 1993 was 17 acres. The results of _these 162
irrigation events collectea from the 22 sites are shown in Table 2
as the 1993 Annual Summary. The Table provides the annual summary
of each monitored site. Irrigation data from individual sites are
presented as site summary data in Appendix D.. site summary data
. from each monitored site~s' compiled and presented in Table 2. The
'. annual irrigation summary~rorthe 22 sites in Table 2 as well as
other tables, also includ~~data from surge/conventional side-by-
side comparison sites to e~timate the overall average for the Grand
Valley.
