m

,
-

December 1976

C\!

San Miguel Project

Current Plan Concept

The current San lUguel Project plan concept would irrigate lands in

Norwood-Redvale area, Mailbox Park, East Lilylands and Dry Creek Basin

plus provide 2,000 acre-feet of municipal and industrial (II & I) water

for Wrights Mesa and another 28,000 acre-feet of II & I water in the San

Miguel River. The only new storage reservoir to provide project water

would be Saltado Reservoir on the San Miguel River. The reservoir would

be located downstream far enough so it wouldn't inundate the town of

Placerville.

M & I water in the San Miguel River would be released directly to the

river from the reservoir. I'Tigation water and 1':rights ~lesa II & I ;;ater

would be realsed into a ten mile long pipeline which would follow the

San Miguel River downstream. Pressure is developed in the pipe due to the

ground slope. A pumping plant at the end of the pipe would boost water

coming out of the pipe up onto Wright's Uesa. East Lilylands and Dry

Creek Basin irrigation water would be conveyed through the proposed

Basin Canal. Existing ditches and' laterals in the Norwood-Redvale area

would be utilized. Also, the existing Gurley, Cone, and Lilylands

Reservoirs would be utilized under project operation.
