Location, size, and type of other wilderness in
the general vicinity and their distance from
the study area.

Wilderness acreage was increased to 2,400,000
acres within l50 airline miles with passage of
the Colorado Wilderness Act. However,
wilderness is not readily available to the
population of southeastern Colorado. The
Collegiate Peaks and Great Sand Dunes
Wildernesses a're both about 2lt plus hours
driving time from Pueblo. The eastern boundary
of this WSA is about Ilt hours driving time from
Pueblo. The suitable or suitable with modified
boundary alternative will help provide for this
need.

b. Present visitor pressure on other wildernesses,
trends in use, and changing patterns of use.

97

r' r .,,.,
, ,,~ {

6
