Hocker put the first cattle into Rock Creek above the forks in 1897. <br /> <br />RGNF <br />1926 <br /> <br />Early Fires by Forest Ranger Truman. <br /> <br />** A fire threatened the town of 8achelor during the summer of 1893. This fire also extended to the <br />Willow Creeks burning large areas in that vicinity. . <br /> <br />_ Almost the entire population of the town of Bachelor spent days combatting this fire which killed aU <br />the timber surrounding the town. Later the town was sometimes called "Stump Town.. <br /> <br />** Recorded fires in Dry Gulch date back as far as 1879.
