<br />Townsend's Big-eared Bat (P1ecotus townsendii)
<br />
<br />The Townsend's big-eared bat Inhabits shrub-steppe, forest edge, pinyon/junlper, and moist forest types. Usually
<br />roosts in caves, mine shafts, rock outcrops. lava tubes. and occasionally in buildings, This species is a late-evening flyer.
<br />Feeds mainly on small moths high in the forest canopy, but occasionally gleans insects from leaves. These bats roost
<br />near entrances to mines and caves used for hibernating: caves with high humidity and cool temperatures preferred
<br />with numerous crevices. This species usually roost on the more open surfaces where they are more susceptible to
<br />disturbance, Tree cavities may occasionally be used for daytime roosting, Disturbance by humans especially in
<br />hibemacula and maternity roosts can be a threat to survival of these animals (Barbour and Davis 1969).

<br />No known slghtings from the For~st. However, they have been spotted at the Orient Mine and the Sand Dunes,
