The annual economic costs of the project are estimated at
$205,500. Included are $50,200 annual operation, maintenance, and
replacement costs and $155,300 amortized capital costs. Total annual
benefits of $583,900 include $489,400 for irrigation, $33,000 for fish
and wildlife, $33,000 for recreation and $28,500 for area redevelop-
ment. The benefit-cost ratio is 2.84 for a 100-year period of analysis.

Expansion of the farming enterprise that would develop frClll
assurance of a dependable water supply would increase agricultural
income and economy of the area. Improved economy would also emanate
from a shift from a livestock enterprise in the farming operations in
New Mexico to a high cash crop enterprise similar to that now carried
on in Colorado. The Amal:!a Reservoir with its permanent pool would'
have high recreational value.
