Emphasis on restoring natural riparian habitat would be compatible with, and could <br />complement, on-going local efforts to preserve wildlife and recreational resources along river <br />corridors. <br /> <br />10. Over time, aesthetic losses of mature cottonwoods along the open waterways would be <br />compensated for by a program to transplant saplings on farms in the project area. <br /> <br />11. Detailed cultural resource surveys have been completed along many of the laterals and <br />would be supplemented by additional surveys prior to disturbance by construction activities.. <br />No impacts to recorded sites and sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places have <br />been identified. As designs and plans are being prepared to install pipelines and develop <br />borrow or habitat replacement areas, reports would be reviewed and recommendations <br />followed. The South and East Canals are considered eligible for the National Register of <br />Historic Places. Work on the laterals of these systems will require further surveys and <br />coordination with the State Historic Preservation Officer to avoid and/or mitigate impacts <br />along these systems or as a result of fmdings of additional surveys. <br /> <br />12. Project activities are not expected to affect Indian Trost assets. In evaluating specific <br />proposals for piping laterals and acquiring habitat replacement areas, existence of assets <br />would be reevaluated and potential effects would be assessed in consultation with potentially <br />affected tribes. <br />13. Constroction impacts such as dust, noise, erosion, and traffic disroptions would be <br />minimized by enforcement of environmental protection measures during construction. Areas <br />disturbed by constroction would be restored. <br /> <br />28 <br />
