<br />..... <br />c.rr <br />'-' <br />c.o <br /> <br />INTERIOR'S ROLE <br /> <br />Federal coordination is accomplished using the lead agency <br /> <br />concept. <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation, acting for the <br /> <br />Secretary of the Interior, has the responsibility for <br /> <br />implementing salinity control measures. <br /> <br />Interagency <br /> <br />coordination is formalized through a series of joint <br /> <br />agreements executed at the Department level, Coordination <br /> <br />at the field administrative/technical level is accomplished <br /> <br />through the Colorado River Interagency Salinity Control <br /> <br />Committee, <br /> <br />Bureau of Reclamation <br /> <br />Units initially authorized for construction were the Grand <br /> <br />Valley, Paradox Valley, and Las Vegas Wash Units. The <br /> <br />following map shows all units Reclamation has been <br /> <br />studying. <br /> <br />Reclamation's construction of the Grand Valley Unit Stage <br /> <br />One is complete. A field station, seven miles of the <br /> <br />Highline Canal lining, and the associated pipe lateral <br /> <br />construction was finished for the 1983 irrigaton season. A <br /> <br />moss and debris removal structure was built to control the <br /> <br />trash problems on the lined canal. <br /> <br />Reclamation's data collection for the Stage Two area <br /> <br />specifications and designs are underway, Reclamation <br />12 <br />
