<br />Recreation Planning: Bonneville Ul1It,
<br />Central Utall Project. Utah: Recreation
<br />planning for proJecls under planning
<br />investigation status continued on
<br />Diamond Fork, Jordanelle Reservoir, and
<br />lisllerman access areas along the Provo
<br />River between the proposed Jordanelle
<br />Reservoir and Deer Creek Reservoir.

<br />Dallas Creek Projecl, Colorado The Colo-
<br />rado Stale Division 01 Parks and Outdoor
<br />Recrealion, under a grant lrom Reclama-
<br />tion, is preparrng designs and specllica-
<br />tions for recreation facilities at Ridgway
<br />Reservoir in western Colorado.
<br />
<br />Dolores Project, Colorado: The San Juan
<br />National Forest is preparrng designs and
<br />specificalions lor four recrealion sites on
<br />Ihe Dolores River between McPhee Dam
<br />and the Bradlield Bridge, including a
<br />Bureau of Land Management sile at the
<br />bridge.
<br />
<br />Recreation Construction: Dallas Creek
<br />Project, Colorado: A boat ramp to serve
<br />Ridgway Reservoir was constructed in
<br />the conlract lor construe lion 01 the dam.
<br />The ramp will be completed during the
<br />1987 construction season.
<br />
<br />Dolores ProJect, Colorado: Facilities at
<br />House Creek and severallisherman
<br />access siles around the McPhee Reser-
<br />voir have been under construction since
<br />the lall 01 1985 and scheduled complelion
<br />is for the 1987 season.
<br />
<br />Bonneville Unit, Central Utah Project.
<br />Utah: Chicken Creek West lisherman
<br />access was completed in 1986
<br />
<br />Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
<br />The extensive recreational use 01 Glen
<br />Canyon National Recreation Area which
<br />surrounds Lake Powell is demonstrated
<br />by the lact thai during 1986, approximate-
<br />ly 2.484.124 people visiled the area. The
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />Boaters enjOy an afternoon of fishing on the lake
<br />
<br />National Park Service has concession-
<br />operated lac ill ties at Wahweap, Rainbow
<br />Brrdge. Halls Crossing, Hile, Lees Ferry,
<br />Bulifrog Basin, and Anlelope Flals.
<br />
<br />From 1909 through 1961, a total of
<br />20,972 vacalioners visited Rainbow
<br />Bridge When access to Ihe Bridge by
<br />waler was made available through com-
<br />pletion of the dam in 1963, visitation
<br />rapidly increased. In 1966, 20.468 people
<br />visited, almost as many as the total
<br />20,972 who viewed Rainbow Bridge
<br />during the 53 years prior to the construc-
<br />tion ollhe dam. During 1984, 177,971
<br />visilors came to the site and the Monu-
<br />ment drew 177,038 visitors during 1985.
<br />
<br />Flaming Gorge National Recreation
<br />Area
<br />Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area,
<br />which surrounds Flaming Gorge Dam and
<br />Reservoir, recorded about 1.733,649
<br />visitors during 1986. Fishing is an impor-
<br />tant recreational activily at Flaming
<br />Gorge Reservoir and in Ihe Green River
<br />below Ihe Dam.
<br />
<br />Navajo National Recreation Area
<br />Construction on the Cottonwood Recrea-
<br />lion Area downstream of Navajo Dam
<br />commenced in 1985 and was completed
<br />in May 1986. The facilities have been
<br />transferred to the New MeXICO Slate
<br />Parks lor operation and maintenance.
<br />Other recrealional areas have been
<br />developed in New Mexico on the Pine
<br />River just above Navajo Dam, on Sims
<br />Mesa on the opposite shore, and near
<br />Arboles, Colorado, on the upper portion of
<br />the lake. NavaJO Reservoir draws visitors

<br />people visited the reservoir during 1986.

<br />Wayne N. Aspinall National Recreation
<br />Area
<br />The National Park Service administers
<br />recreational facilities on the Wayne N.
<br />Aspinall National Recreation Area. These
<br />facilities were constructed with Reclama-
<br />tion funds on Blue Mesa Reservoir at Elk
<br />Creek adjacent to U.S. 50, the lola site
<br />across the lake, and at Lake Fork near
<br />the dam. In 1986, 1,114,756 visitors
<br />came to the several Aspinall recreation
<br />areas.
<br />
<br />Ridgway State Recreation Area
<br />A cooperative agreemenl was executed
<br />on July 14, 1986, belween Reclamation
<br />and the Stale of Colorado Division of
<br />Parks and Outdoor Recreation for Ihe
<br />design and construction of recreation
<br />lacilities at Ridgway State Recreation
<br />Area. This developmenl includes camp-
<br />grounds, day use areas, a boat ramp and
<br />associated facilities. The cost for this
<br />design and construction contracl is
<br />$10,890.000 and is estlmaled Jar comple-
<br />tion in 1991.
<br />
<br />A cooperative agreement was executed
<br />June 6, 1986, between Reclamation and
<br />Tri-County Water Conservancy District to
<br />provide a culinary water system for Ridg-
<br />way State Recreation Area. The system
<br />Will be completed during FY 87 at a cost
<br />of $1,267,000.
<br />
<br />McPhee Recreation Area
<br />The McPhee Recreation Area was dedi-
<br />cated during ceremonies in May 1 986,
