.

.

\-4
Co"
-.,J
o

April 26. 1984

Bureau of Reclamation
Lower Colorado Region

BRIEFING NOTES FOR MEETING APRIL 30 AND MAY 1

1.

Las Vegas Wash

The Pittman Bypass Pipeline is scheduled for completion in

November 1984. Monitoring of the Pittman Verification Program would be

extended to September 1987 to concide with the proposed end of the

Ground-Water Flow Reduction Verification Program (GFRVP).

A Draft Environmental Assessment for the GFRVP is scheduled for

completion by May 1984.

The GFRVP would include two ground-water basins formed by a

peripheral slurry trench/wall.

The schedule for the GFRVP may be delayed by 6 months to be

compatible with planning by the Colorado River Commission of Nevada for

protection of a nearby pipeline crossing.

The use of brackish ground water to irrigate recreation fields

near the Wash may be studied following the GFRVP. This would help consume

and benefically use brackish water which would otherwise leach additional

salt as it passed through the Wash to the Colorado River.
