<br />Rio Grande near Lohatos, Colo.

<br />Location.-- Water-stage recorder, lat 37"05', long 105045', in sec. 22, T, 33 N., R. 11 E., on right bank just
<br />downstream from highway bridge, 6 miles north of Colorado-New Mexico State line, 10 miles east of Lobalos,
<br />and 14 miles east of AntonttO. Datum of gage is 7,426.79 ft above mean sea level, datum of 1929.
<br />Drainaj1;e area. --7, 700 sq mi, approximately (includes 2,940 sq rot in closed basin in San Luis Valley).
<br />AveraKe discharge. __70 years (1900-69), 605 cis (438, 300 acre-it per year).
<br />
<br />Extremes. __ 1899-1969: Maximum discharge observed, 13,200 cfs June B, 1905, (gage height, 9. 1 it), from
<br />rating curve extended above B, 000 ds; no flow at times in 1950-51, 1956.
<br />
<br />Remarks. _. Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Natural flow of streams affected by
<br />trans mountain diversions, storage reservoirs, ground-water withdrawals and diversions for irrigation, and
<br />return flow from irrigated areas.

<br />Location. __ Water-stage recorder, tat 36034'50", long 106043'30", in Tierra Amarilla Grant, 1. 5 miles
<br />downstream from El Vado Dam, 2.7 miles upstream from Rio Nutrias, and 13 miles southwest of
<br />Tierra Amarilla, Rio Arriba County. Datum of gage is 6, 696.12 ft above mean sea level, datum of 1929.
<br />Prior to October 1935, at site 1. 5 miles upstream and October 1935 to September 1938, at site 1. 1 miles
<br />upstream at different datum.
<br />Drainage area. -- 877 sq mi.
<br />A.erale discharge. --4 years (1914, 1921-23), 444 cfs prior to completion of dam; 34 years (1936-69) 375 cls
<br />(27 ~OO acre-feet per year) subsequent to completion of EI Vado Dam.
<br />Extremes. __ 1914-16, 1920-24, 1936-69: Maximum discharge observed, 9,000 ds May 22, 1920 (gage height,
<br />12 it); no flow Mar. 25, 26, 31, 1955.

<br />Remarks. __Records good except those for some winter months, which are poor. Diversions above station for
<br />irrigation of about 6,000 acres. Since 1935 flow regulated by EI Vade Reservoir.
