<br />r-. l,2.. ~()...r) -.s- <br />c;., v. j /?Z-L.- ST-'" I.b... <br /> <br />PALISADE AND MESA COUNTY <br />IRRIGATION DISTRICT NEWS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CURRENT EVENTS IN THE GRAND VALLEY <br /> <br />Volume 5, No. 1 <br /> <br />July 1992 <br /> <br />,<s:'-;; ':"/';:Yf~,~.'< <br />">;P;';::;: '/'iv" :'>~<'/"\ <br />;~!~}:;~1"'; . <br /> <br /> <br />;~'! . <br /> <br />3.1/2 ton concrete pipe joint ready for placement in Price Canal <br />(Photo by Jim Langston) <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION UPDATE <br /> <br />The 1991 -92 construction year has been a <br />very good one for the Mesa County Irrigation <br />District (MCID) and the Palisade Irrigation <br />District (PID), Recently, the Boards of <br />Directors expressed satisfaction at having <br />completed installation of almost a mile <br />of pipe in the Price Canal/Ditch, almost <br />41/2 miles of pipe in the Stubb Canal/Ditch, <br />and installing PVC pipe in 7 miles of laterals, <br /> <br />FUNDING FOR SALINITY PROJECT <br /> <br />Federal funds cover the entire cost of the <br />estimated $17 million project. Work includes <br />lining or piping the Price and Stubb Canals and <br /> <br />all of the laterals. The MCID and PID act as their <br />own contractor in completing the improvements <br />and the Bureau of Reclamation provides the <br />engineering expertise, inspections and funding, <br />The MCID and PID will also be reimbursed for <br />future operation and maintenance (O&M) costs <br />that exceed the present O&M costs, <br /> <br />REQUIREMENTS FOR IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br />In order to improve a MCID or PID lateral, <br />a water user must obtain a petition from the <br />Salinity Coordination Office (address on next <br />page) and then have all the water users on the <br />lateral complete the petition and return it to <br />the Salinity Coordination Office, The lateral <br />will then be added to the construction schedule <br />for improvements_ <br />
