The Task Force
consists of representatives of Federal, State,
and local govemments with support from
various environmental groups. Represen-
tatives of various disciplines within the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and
the Department of the Interior (DOl) are the
major Federal participants.
A draft National Nonpoint Source Policy
(NPS) has evolved along with a preliminary
EPA strategy to carry out its role in
implementing that policy. The other par-
ticipating agencies have been requested to
submit their draft strategies for implementa-
tion before the next meeting on September
19 and 20.
The September meeting will provide the
opportunity to complete the draft national
pOlicy, review the EPA strategy for imple-
mentation, and begin coordination of im-
plementation activities and stategies of the
various agencies represented. The goal is to
have a final national NPS policy, and
coordinated implementation strategies com-

pleted by mid-December.
