the entities. and also will enable the entltIes to make
8 more accurate determination as to the exact amount
of time their waters take to get (rom Pueblo Reservoir
to their headgates.

o
a
~
<.c
....
w

OFFICIAL MEETINGS

Water Resource Management Programs have he-
come universal in nature, and it is, therefore, necessary
that officials from the District be active in local, state,
regional, national and world water organizations. Such
participation enables representatives from the District
to disseminate material on the Fryingpan-Arkansas
Project and the area served hv the District, and at the
same time affords them the opportunity to gather infor-
mation on water resource programs in other parts of
the world which can be utilized beneficially in long-
..nge planning in the Valley.

Representatives from the District who attend such
water meetings report to the Board at the next meeting,
and provide such printed material as 1S available. Much
of the material is then reproduced and mailed to in-
terested people in the District, and throughout the
state and nation. Organizations with which the District
is closely associated include the Water Resources Con-
gress, National Water Resources Association, Colorado
River Water Users Association, Arkansas River Basin
Interstate Committee, Four States Irrigation Council,
Colorado Water Congress, Colorado Water Conserva-
tion Board, Fryingpan-Arkansas Operating Principles
Committee, Arkansas River Compact Administration,
alld special committees and commissions appointed b}'
the President of the United States, the Congress, or the
Governor of the State of Colorado.

DISTRICT LIBRARY

The District is on a number of mailing lists, and
receives regular publications on a wide variety of wa-
tef resource management programs, and those publica-
tions, in additlon to the' ones which members of: direc-
tors and staff obtain at official water meetings, are
made a part of the ever-increasing library in the Dis-
trict Offices. District officials are pleased when stu-
dents from areawide schools, padicutarly in~titulion5
of higher learning, use the resource facilities at the
District Library in the preparation of term papers and
m,llerial for speeches aJld debates. Water resource mat-
ters are complex by their very nature, and it is helpful
to the over-all program when people avail themselves
of our authentic data and information, rather than
pure speculation.

20

.'.....

-.:c,:....

._h' -
. .

i.",....'.
.,
",'
. ~ ':.
., '.
" ii,
I ';~"(' . .

I'~.}..,.
,I,',
\---'
,.
"
't"
'I

...
U
1.&1
a
=
c.
=
~
=r
30

~~
~~
~u I
~~~II,
(.!) ,.
Z.
,
- '
Iti:
1.1.
