From studies of several other reservoirs it is estimated that approximately

90% of the sediment load will be deposited in the proposed White River Reservoir.

The reservoir, by design, will have the capacity to hold a large volume of

deposited sediments. This aspect will have a tendency to improve the downstream

fishery and will definitely decrease problems associated with pumping and

utilization of irrigation water on the Ute Tribal agricultural lands.

Upstream water conservation projects will further reduce the amount of

sediment at the proposed reservoir. With the available sediment data for the 1975

and 1976 water years indicating a sediment load of approximately 735 acre-feet

per year and a reservoir trap efficiency of 90 percent, the estimated trapped

sediment load will be 660 acre-feet per year. The proposed reservoir has a sediment

storage space of 38,000 acre-feet; therefore it should be 58 years before any

encroachment occurs on the active reservoir storage, assuming all the sediment

storage will be deposited in the inactive zone.

H. Dam Safety Provisions

Utah State Dam Safety provisions will be complied with including:

1. Plans on tracing cloth for construction of the dam will be filed with
the State Engineer's office with prescribed title block information.

2. Final plans will be filed with the State Engineer's office with all
details necessary for analysis of the hydraulic characteristics, capacity of outlet
and spillway, spillway design, grout curtain and cap, stability, and seismic design
provisions. All details necessary for construction will be shown including:
a complete topographic and geologic survey of the reservoir area, a general map,
tie to an official land survey corner, hydrologic data, drainage area and flood
routing criterion, subsurface exploration data, typical cross-section of dam,
profile of spillway, profile along axis of dam, crest width of dam, details of
cutoff, core trench, freeboard, cross-section of outlet works, plan view of dam,
derivation of capacities of outlet works and spillway, area capacity curve
and/or table.

and

3. Final specifications
inspectors with regard to:

adequate to guide the field engineer, contracts
site preparation, grouting, borrow areas,

embankment, and concrete.

- 42 -
