001711

Comparison of Results from Simulation of Colorado River Operations
CRSS vs. CRSP

The results tabulated here represent annual averages of fifteen hydrologic
sequences over a 56-year period--1985 through 2040. The CRSS results were
derived from the study performed in December 1984, the CRSP study was
performed in January 1981. Both studies produced 15 sets of results,
derived from the use of 15 different historical hydrologic sequences, each
offset by 5 years. The CRSP study covered the period October 1, 1980 to
September 30, 2040. The CRSS study began January 1, 1985 and ended
December 31, 2050. For purposes of comparison the 56-water year period
from the CRSP results is equated to the 56-calendar year period from CRSS.
In the CRSP study, hydrologic sequence one begins with simulated operations
in 1981 based on inflows from hydrologic year 1906. In the CRSS study,
hydrologic sequence one begins with simulated operations in 1985 based on
hydrologic year 1906. The hydrologic data base for CRSP was the years 1906
to 1979; for CRSS, 1906 to 1983.

Although there is not exact correspondence with respect to the number of
times any historical year's hydrology occurs in each study, the difference
in study results attributable to the hydrologic data is assumed to be
portrayed by the annual averages of each of the data sets.

6
