<br />THE AMITl MUTUAL IRRIGATlOH COMPAMl <br /> <br />r:: 1 SANDCREEI: AND DIVEll8JON CANAL <br />1 ~Iqchcre feet were diverted from Sand Creek in July and <br />August. The diversion canal is in good condillon. <br /> <br />THE GREAT PLAINS RESEBVOIJIS AND CANALS <br /> <br />A total of 700 acre Jeet was diverted into the Kicking Bird <br />Canal and stored in Queen Reservoir. This amount was insuJfl. <br />lent to bring the water level up to zero gauge height. <br /> <br />The heavy rains of May 29, washed out one of the large <br />drops on the Comanche Canal. The drop Is one of a set oj 3, each <br />of which lowers the :anal level a vertical distancEi' of 20 feet. <br />Concrete was run between the legs and around the base. <br />Approximately 2500 cubic yards of dirt was required to fill the <br />cavity caused bY the flood water. <br /> <br />The Kicking Bird and Satanla Canals were cleaned Jor a <br />total of 42 mUes. Nearly 50,000 cubic yards of material Wll8 <br />removed. These canals are now in very good shape. <br /> <br />The Lone Wolf Canal was re-establlshed on grade and a <br />number of trees were removed. <br /> <br />The waters of the Nee No She Reservoir this year receded <br />to a point which exposed the entlIli> length of the oullet channet <br />The channel was widened and deepened by 4 feet, which <br />re-estabI1shed it in ortglnal grade and condillon. <br /> <br />No water was avaUable from these reservoirs for use by <br />either the AmIty Canal or the Fort Lyon Canal in 1964. <br /> <br />At the end of May, Dwight Clark, your Reservoir Superin- <br />tendent for many Years, retired. His presence among the Amity <br />employees will be missed. The position remained vacant untll <br />October when Vern Huss was moved from the Lamar Division of <br />the Amity Canal to assume the dulles at the Reservoirs. <br /> <br />EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS <br /> <br />The 35Q. T Bantam draglIne was used In major maintenance <br />and construcllon work during the year, The machine will requhe <br />all new swing, drag, and hoist clutches and some minor repair. 11 <br />is now 5 years old and has been used very hare!. <br /> <br />The 'J'D.IS dozer has been used on most major maintenance <br />and repair. It needs some minor repair, but Is otherwise In <br />excellentcondillon. <br /> <br />Pe,. 2J <br />
