Releases for the remainder of August 1996 are expected
to remain at this level, while those for September through November
will gradually drop to a daily average of about 12,000 cfs. A
special release during the Labor Day weekend is currently planned
to allow aerial and video photographic mapping of the Grand Canyon.
Releases on August 31 through September 2 will be 8,000 cfs
constant flow to accommodate this work.

For the next year or two, releases to equalize storage between
Lakes Powell and Mead are expected to control the annual release
volume from Lake Powell. This will likely result in releases
greater than the minimum objective release of 8.23 MAF (10 to 11
MAF are expected under average inflow assumptions) .

The final consultation meeting regarding the 1997 Annual Operating
Plan for the Colorado River system reservoirs will be held
September 4, 1996, in Las Vegas.
