<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Releases from Flaming Gorge will then be adjusted to maintain a <br />flow of 1800 cfs on the Green River near Jensen, Ut. <br /> <br />In water year 1996, Flaming Gorge is again being operated in <br />compliance with the Final Biologieal Opinion for the operation of <br />Flaming Gorge Dam (FBOFGD). Water year 1996 is the last year in <br />the five year research period, through which recommendations for <br />winter and spring operations at the dam will be based. <br /> <br />Open forum discussions on Flaming Gorge operations have been taking <br />place at meetings of the "Flaming Gorge Working Group". The next <br />Working Group meeting will be held August 1 at 10:00 am in Heber, <br />Ut. For more information on the Working Group, contact Ed Vidmar <br />at 801-379-1000. <br /> <br />ASPINALL - May unregulated inflow into Blue Mesa was 355,900 <br />acre-feet or about 166 percent of average. The forecasted inflow <br />into the Aspinall unit for the April through July period is <br />expected to be 820,000 acre-feet or 117 percent of average. <br /> <br />Current inflow into Blue Mesa is about 5,200 cfs. Diversions <br />through the Gunnison Tunnel have commenced, and are currently about <br />925 cfs, releases from Crystal Dam are about 2,100 cfs, leaving <br />approximately 1,175 cfs in the river. <br /> <br />On April 18, 1996 a public meeting on the operation of the Aspinall <br />Unit was held at the USBR office in Grand Junction. The operation <br />plan for April through August was set at this meeting, Anyone <br />needing further information about this meeting, please contact Ed <br />Warner in the Grand Junction Area Office at (970) 248-0654. <br /> <br />NAVAJO May inflow into Navajo was only 108,600 acre-feet <br />approximately 54 percent of average. Precipitation in the San Juan <br />Basin has been very low the past few months. This has affeeted the <br />expected inflow into Navajo for the April through July runoff <br />period. The runoff is expected to be only 300,000 acre-feet or 39 <br />percent o~:.average. <br /> <br />curren~iy.,~feases from Navajo are 2,500 cfs. With the low amount <br />of inft6w....forecasted for 1996, releases will probably remain near <br />2,500 cfs through June 23, 1996. On June 24,1996, a ramp down of <br />releases will begin.
