WATER <br /> <br />U1 (~~ ~~I~e~ <br /> <br />OF THE InTERIOR <br /> <br />DEPARTmEnT <br /> <br />Public Horkshops ",ill be held in Salt Lake City, Noab, Grand Junction, <br /> <br />and Denver, to obtain puulic attitudes and COffiID.ents concerning the <br /> <br />possIble inclusion of a stretch of the Colorado River into the National <br /> <br />!Jild and Scenic Rivers System. The portion to he studied extends from a <br /> <br />point 19 miles east of the Colorado-Utah st3te line downstream to the <br /> <br />confluence with the Dolores River in Utah, according to S. Gene Day, <br /> <br />Hoab District Hanager, Bureau of Land Hanagement. <br /> <br />Day {'lent on to say, "The study, and subseql1ent environmental impact <br /> <br />statement, is a cooperative effort between the states of Colorado and <br /> <br />Utah, Bureau of Outdoor Recr.-eation, and Bureau ot La.nd Management. II <br /> <br />The \~ild and Scenic Rivers Act provides that several rivers, including this <br /> <br />segment of the Colorado are to be studied for possible inclusion into the <br /> <br />National t..'ild) Scp.nic, or Recreat.-ional River System. Recommendations will <br /> <br />be submitted to the Se"cretary of the Interior, Congress "hich "ill make <br /> <br />any designations. <br /> <br />The general public is invited to attend the meetings ",hich will begin at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />in the follOl,ing places: <br /> <br />July 6 (Tuesday) <br /> <br />July 7 (H"dnesday) <br /> <br />Two Rivers Plaza <br />2nd and HaIn <br />Grand Junction~ Colorado <br /> <br />0640 <br /> <br />Grand County High School <br />3rd South and lst East <br />Ooo.b, Utah <br />
