The quality of
water provided through project facilities would be of much higher
quality than the present supplies with respect to hardness. The
tangible monetary benefits resulting from supplemental municipal
and domestic water are estimated to be $1,662,000 annually.
In the Pueblo Reservoir 93,000 acre-feet of capacity would be

reserved for flood storage, this would be effective in controlling

floeds originating above Pueblo and would eliminate 66 percent of

the probable annual floed damages between Pueb!o and the John

Martin Reservoir. Benefits from fIoed control are estimated to

be $583,000 annually.

The capture of sediment in pueblo Reservoir would afford some

relief to downstream water users from a costly operation and main-

tenance problem. Annual benefits. from sediment control are estimated

at $J.4l,000.

The total tangible annual benefits are estimated to be

$9,353,000. In contrast to the benefits, the estimated annual

equivalent Federal cost is $5,568,000. (;omparing annual benefits

to costs the ratio is 1.68 to 1.

The total estimated construction cost of the proposed project

and the estimated annual operation, maintenance and replcement

expense have been allocated to tbl>:principle purposes served by
the project as follows:

4

~~~\i1~:i~llrii~t?i/;~*f;~~4'*5[~~ii9j~;gp$Jt;tii~,:~;~1?}1i~tJ{$~Wf!i:S~(itl{&;t:~:t;lii{i~KEi?k1i~tti;i~:1;r$g';~fHi';t~i~:):~12;tf
