Energy <br />projects are providing development in these regions, <br />and the commissions are working to respond to the <br />opportunities and problems created. <br />The commissions include the Appalachian Regional <br />Commission and seven others coordinated through the <br />Department of Commerce: Coastal Plains, Four <br />Corners, New England. Old West, Ozarks, Pacific <br />Northwest and Upper Great lakes, The States wholly <br />or partially within each regional commission are listed <br />in Table 2 and 4. <br />The regional commissions can offer information on <br />other communities within the region, and direct you <br />to specific sources of financial aid. All towns of 10,000 popu. <br />lation or less are defined as rural, and towns of up to <br />50,000 population are eligible for some forms of <br />assistance. <br />The A DS has put together a computer-based informa- <br />tion system which covers all the potential programs in <br />the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance.
