Terrain in this section is hilly but with exl.en- <br />sive level areas occurring in both counties. Elevation range" from <br />500 to 1500 feet. Local relief seldom exceeds 300 feet. <br /> <br />Approximately half of Washington County is within the Bo,ton <br />Mountains. The area is characterized by flat-topped summit ridges <br />wi th steep sides.
