<br />00230.i <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />prepared a draft analysis (Status Report) of seven of the twenty-two areas. Copies of the analysis <br />have been mailed to agency stafTmembers working on the program. The Status Report provides an <br />analysis of the amount of habitat that can be conserved (by type) and an estimate of water <br />requirements for each area. When completed, the analysis will provide essential information for <br />completion of the Multi-Species Conservation Plan and the EIR/EIS. <br /> <br />The Steering Committee directed the Program Subcommittee to prepare a report identifying <br />the tasks that must be completed in order to have the LCR MSCP proposal ready for signature by the <br />Secrela!y of the Interior. The report will identify a schedule of the major milestones, an estimate for <br />the remaining costs, and a statement of the funds expended, obligated, available or needed to complete <br />the program. The Steering Committee requested the report by October 22nd for consideration at its <br />meeting on October 28, 1999. <br /> <br />I <br />. , <br /> <br />The Steering Committee gave its approval for the LCR MSCP to have a display booth at the <br />Colorado River Water Users Association Annual Conference from December 15th through December <br />17th in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will provide another opportunity to inform water users and others <br />about the program and where it is going. <br /> <br />Several items are included in the Board folder for your information. The first is a notice from <br />the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFD) inviting attendance at an Aquatic Nuisance Species <br />Workshop to be held on November 8. in Phoenix, Arizona. Also included is a leaflet from the U. S. <br />Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) alerting the public that Giant Salvinia has been discovered in the <br />Lower Colorado River and requesting that the USFWS be notified if the plant has been seen. The <br />plant grows rapidly, and, if unchecked, can cause severe problems for recreation, fish and wildlife. <br />water intake facilities, and pumping stations. Finally, in the Board folder is a letter, dated September <br />14, 1999, from Patricia Beneke and Donald Beny responding to the March 12, 1999 letter from nine <br />environmental organizations to Secretary Babbitt concerning the Colorado River Delta in Mexico. <br /> <br />WESTERN WATER PLANNING <br /> <br />Glen Canvon Adaptive Management <br /> <br />Included in the Board folder is the Agenda for the October 21" meeting of the Glen Canyon <br />Adaptive Management Workgroup (AMWG).
