.

.

CHKPLAN2 illustrates how much of the junior GVIC demand could
be handled by the "check" under alternative bypass channel
capacities. Because the "natural flow" used in these models
does not include Green Mountain Reservoir releases for West
Slope irrigation, they indicate shortage conditions which did
not occur in 1977. In attempting to answer questions about
the magnitude of demands within the Cameo Call group of
rights, it was necessary to use baseline data which did not
include artificial additions to the system. It is hoped that
further refinements in the baseline data will permit future
examinations of the adequacy of storage facilities to handle
basin-wide demands.

C. Summarv of Findinas

1. Water Supply Under Full Administration

NATFLOW1 indicates that "natural" river flows at Cameo
would have increased by approximately 9,000 acre-feet in 1977
due to reservoir evaporation releases and administration of
the junior water right at the Shoshone Power Plant. Most of
the water gained would be released from reservoirs dedicated
for replacement purposes, permitting continued depletion by
transmountain diversion projects. The senior Shoshone Power
Plant right was short of water on ~7~ days during the 12-month
study period.

without Green Mountain Reservoir releases for West
Slope irrigation, the Cameo rights would have had a full
supply on only 48 days during the irrigation season. The
results of CHKPLAN1 indicate that all rights except the senior
right of GVIC experienced shortages, as follows:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Table 2.
Projected Natural-flow Shortages
Under Full River Administration

Water Riaht or Structure

Shortaae

GVIC senior right (520 cfs)
GVWUA Highline Canal (850 cfs)
Vinelands Diversion (17 cfs)
OMID Canals 1 & 2 (171 cfs)
OMID Pumping Plant (272 cfs)
GVIC junior right (120 cfs)
TOTAL

o af
14,900 af
200 af
2,100 af
3,400 af
30.800 af
51,400 af

--------------------------------------------------------------

- 12 -
