Conservation Board at their meeting to be held in Grand Junction, Colorado

in February 1982.

1. The feasibility study for the Dominguez Reservoir Project was authorized

by Congress in 1972. Our former Congressman, the Honorable Wayne Aspinall

was instrumental in obtaining authorization.

2. The Bureau of Reclamation proceeded to establish a multiobjective

planning team to provide assistance and/or input to the study. This team

is comprised of representatives of State and Federal agencies and local

interest groups, and private entities.

3. As the study progressed, seven water supply ~ntities--Home \'ater Supply

Company, Inc. of Hhitewater; Town of Palisade; Clifton Hater District;

City of Grand Junction; Redlands Water and Power Company; Ute Water Con-

servancy District and Town of Fruita--requested that Mesa County be the

purchaser and seller of water from the Dominguez Reservoir Project. The

Mesa County Commissioners agreed to act as the official sponsor and con-

tracting entity. To aid them in this effort they established the Mesa

County Dominguez Reservoir AdvisoryCommittee comsisting of representatives

from the seven water entities previously mentioned, the Delta County

Commissioners, the Mesa County Commissioners, and the City of Delta. The

advisory committee has been active in advising the public, civic groups,

news media, National and State Senators and Congressman and other

organizatioCls as to the purpose and need' for the project and progress of
