Founded in 1955, <br />223 EAST BROADWAY, GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA 91205 <br />Telephone 246,0444 or 245.2317, for fortl1er Information Call: Jack Keatiag <br /> <br />~ll~ <br /> <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> <br />The Feather River Project Association today urged the California Congressional <br /> <br />Delegation to eontinue to fight at this session for passage of HR-467l, the $1.7 <br /> <br />billion Colorado River Basin project---whieh some Congressional spokesmen have recom- <br /> <br />mended abandoning for this session due to alleged insufficient votes, <br /> <br />The Association Board of Directors voted unanimously to send the following <br /> <br />message to all California eongressmen: <br /> <br />"The Feather River Project Association resists any further compromise on HR-4671, <br /> <br />the Colorado River Basin legislation now pending before the House Rules Committee. <br /> <br />"This Association urges retention of the essential features of this Legisla- <br /> <br />tion, approved by the House Interior Committee July 28, 1966, and urges the California <br /> <br />Congressional Delegation to endeavor to garner the necessary support in the House at <br /> <br />this session, to insure passage of this legislation in its present form. <br /> <br />"The water needs of Arizona and other Colorado River Basin states are critical <br /> <br />and this has been a problem of long standing." <br /> <br />E. F. Dibble, FRPA President, declared that the FRPA, eonsisting of grassroots <br /> <br />water leaders from throughout the state, adopted this position unanimously "after <br /> <br />considering that congressional votes reported committed to support the bill and those <br /> <br />rated as 'probably favorable', if combined, would be sufficient for passage," In <br /> <br />addi tion, there are reported a number of "not committed" votes, Dibble added. <br />
