<br />man. Most phreatophytes are plants of low economic value, and so the water
<br />consumed by them is largely wasted, In the diagram, depletion of the reservoir
<br />is indicated by a reduction in volume through transpiration draft which- re-
<br />presents consumptive waste of water into the atmosphere. The water circulat-
<br />ing in this segment of the hydrologic cycle is potentially available for man's
