The second meeting will be from 7;30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28. <br /> <br /> <br />at the Rocky Ford City Offices, 203 S. Main. <br /> <br /> <br />Interested persons should call Mark Matulik at (303) 866-3441 by Friday, Aug. 23, to RSVP for <br /> <br /> <br />the meetings. <br /> <br /> <br />During 1995, the CWCB and the u.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted meetings in Southeast <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado to assess local support and potential obstacles to solving flood-related problems in the lower <br /> <br /> <br />Arkansas River basin. Subsequently, the board successfully sought legislative authorization and funding <br /> <br /> <br />for the Arkansas River Multi-Objective Management Plan. The board is authorized to spend $150,000 <br /> <br /> <br />on the study during the fiscal year that began July I of this year. <br /> <br /> <br />The Aug_ 27 and 28 meetings will provide the public with an opportunity for input into the study <br /> <br /> <br />process for the plan, whieh will focus on two reaches -- from Pueblo Reservoir to John Martin Reservoir <br /> <br /> <br />and from John Martin Reservoir to the. Colorado State Line. The Albuquerque District of the Corps of <br /> <br /> <br />Engineers will contribu.le money to jointly fund the study of the lower reach. <br /> <br /> <br />Specific issues the study will address include channel conveyance, sediment deposit, vegetative <br /> <br /> <br />management, reservoir operations and riparian plantings and removal. <br /> <br />### <br />
