<br />new water supplies from the Colorado
<br />River-Arizona's appropriate share under
<br />compact-Arizona's future will, indeed, be
<br />bleak.
<br />Nader's task force has charged that Col-
<br />orado. in exchange for its support of the
<br />CAP, bargained for a group of projects in
<br />western Colorado. approved in the o,'era11
<br />CAP package bill.
<br />But, at least, by gaining appro,'al of
<br />these projects, Colorado established its
<br />rights to waters it legitimately claims as
<br />its own, rather than relinquishing the
<br />water rights to be gobbled up b;>' lower
<br />Colorado Basin states. Someday, the
<br />water will be put to beneficial .uses,
<br />whether for diversified agriculture or mu-
<br />nicipal and industrial uses.
